Oil capacity of the 2.8L V6?

Oil capacity of the 2.8L V6?

Judging by displacement and number of cylinders, id say 4 quarts? 5?

Im doing an oil change SOON and i see some sludge through the fill hoe so im going from there. needing capacity and i know what filter it takes.

Every 2.8 I've owned I put 4.5 quarts in no matter what filter but to be safe I would put 4 in and add as needed .

All 2.8/3.1/3.4/3x00's from '80 to '05 are 4 1/2qts.

What filter and is it to the "Full" mark on the dipstick? Im sure it is with that extra 1/2 quart

Or do you have an oversize filter. Im putting Purolator L10111 on mine, which is what book says to put on it

Honestly, I have no idea. I'm like 2k miles past due for an oil change. I'll let you know when I change it.

Looking at my handy GM service manual for my 84 firebird is says 2.8L takes 3.8 Liters (4 Qts.) vin codes 1,L,X,2
