removed air box out of 3.1

I completely removed my stock air box from my 3.1 yesterday. so i have something similar to a k&n open element. My boss at work that nows some what about cars said that removing the air box will cause my injectors to clog. is this true or did he miss understand me and think that i removed everything including the air filter itself?

Yeah, your friend probably thought you had no air filter at all. And I agree with FASTRS, I don't see how an injector would clog- they just spray fuel, no air.

take the black plastic thing off like you where changing your air filter. take out that really long screw and remove the air filter. you should see some kind of sensor (PCV valve???) going into the side of the air box, disconnect the wires going to the sensor. then you should be able to pull the air box straight out. then take the senor out of the side of the air box and hook the sensor back up. then put just your air filter back in and put the long screw through the center of it and then tighten down the intake. i just laid that sensor thing beside my air filter. it's on a short wire so i'm not afraid of losing it. hope this helped!

So you dont have to worry about the sensor?? If you leave it just hanging there it wont hurt anything?? If you can leave it hanging there then whats the point of having it? Thanks alot guys!

Monkie, you're right, it can just hang. It's (technically called MAT for third gens) there to measure the temp of the incoming air. So as long as the sensor's near incoming air, it'll read accurately. If you tied it up near your exhaust pipes, well, that won't work well.

TomP I did what you said and put the sensor more down so that it would read colder air resulting in better throttle response and I took the box off and after all this I took it out to see if I could tell a difference and I could tell a very good change. It really didnt feel THAT MUCH faster but I could feel a better feeling. Almost like the car felt better lol. Anyways thanks alot for the help!!!
