V6 Discussion and questions about the base carbureted or MPFI V6's and the rare SFI Turbo V6.

Are 60deg motor mounts different than other V6 mm?

Just curious how hard it would be to put a 3.8 or 4.3 in place of a 2.8/3.1. I am only concerned with the motor positioning. This is only if I decide to start a super/turbo 6 project.

I am trying to remember if the motor mounts were the same--I don't think so, but whatever.

Converting to a 3.8L or 4.3L is almost identical to converting to a V8. Motor mounts, etc. are the same, as well as you'd need a different transmission.

Has anyone tried to get polyurethane motor mounts for our cars? The Energy Suspension website lists their motor-mount-compatibility by GM part #, not application. I never bothered to call GM to try to find out our motor mount part #'s.

I have a V8 700R4, V6 700R4, and a 2004R tranny laying around (I figured the 3.8/4.3 would work with the 2004R for sure, prob the V8 700R4 tranny as well). I think I would eventually like to do a twin turbo V6, but right now am just in initial planning stages.

I don't want to monkey around w/ using a 60 degree six. The GN's proved the 3.8 worked fine, and the Typhoon/Syclone did the same for the 4.3 engine.

Why go to a 3.8, though? You'll have to do the same amount of work as putting a v8 in. Just curious!
