Every time I floor mine it goes past 80....common for these. Maybe you were down on oil before the oil change? Wouldn't a higher oil pressure indicate more oil in the system?? Wild guess, but it makes a little sense....

Jason E :

As long as the oil pickup is covered by oil it doesn't know wether it has 2 qts. or 10 qts. of oil in the sytem. The pressure will not change. (unless the pickup becomes uncovered)

As far as the oil pressure being higher, could be the oil you took out was really broken down causing poor viscosity.??

I can't explain it but I've seen the pressure jump after alot of oil changes on the 2.8s.

Thanks for the reply guys. Before, when I changed the oil,the pressure always stayed the same. The old oil was as black as the ash try in front of me now .But it wasn't that old.It had about 6000 miles on it.I had an oil leak around the drain plug(fixed it yesterday)I had to add a quart of conventional oil to my syntech oil.You think that has anything to do with it do you?
Thanks
