2.8L Headers, they are true!!!!!!!!!!
2.8L Headers, they are true!!!!!!!!!!
Well I won the Ebay auction for the headers for the 2.8L headers that fit the 2.8L V6 engines from 82-87. This is so damn cool. I asked where he got them and if they are in production again. He said no but since he owns a speed shop he has 2 pairs left in his warehouse from many years ago that he was neverable to get rid of. They are brand new and never been used. He has one pair left. I'm trying to see if I can unload them for him b/c I know that someone around here is like me and wanted headers for their 2.8L. I'm so happy about this, now once I get them I'm going to send them to Jet Hoat Coatings and get them coated, then get the high flow CAT, and the complete aluminum exhaust piping. This little V6 should sound bitchin and should hopefully roar pretty good right through that 80 series Flowmaster. Later guys

Don't worry about a y-pipe too much if it does not have one. A GOOD exhaust shop can make one for you. I had to have one made since I have dual cats and I replaced my cats. I didn't like the job the first place did, so I recently went to a new exhaust shop and they had no problems making one for me.

The only thing that is stopping them from being emissions legal in California is the smog fittings. I will have to get a custom drilled hole in the passenger side header in order to get the EGR valve to interact w/ the computer and the smog crap. I don't have a smog pump on my car so that means that I don't have the AIR. So that is one extra plus that my year Firebird did not come equiped with.
My buddy who owns the exhaust shop is going to custom make me a Y-pipe and install a completely new exhaust piping system made out of aluminum all for $150 including labor (I think I'm getting off pretty cheap). But I do have to install the headers myself and drive in there open headered. Oh, well there is always a price to pay huh? Then I would be smog legal. Is there any suggestions on what size exhaust piping that I should go with and w/ the new CAT (what diameter size)? Also before they get installed they are going to be Jet Hot Coated as well. I don't know how much he wants for the other pair but I would estimate at least $200 or more. Here is his e-mail address: larry@propowerparts.com
