is it my understanding that all you have to do to swap the 2.8 to a 3.4 is take out the long block use the 3.4 long block,use the 3.4l's injectors with the 2.8l intake and use your origanal accys. is this true i have had several diff ways explained to me and his is the most common way to retain your origanal connecors and harness.also what about the the trans are the 95 and 89 5 speeds the same will i need to use teh 95 tranny or my 89 tranny? thanx you guys for the feedback on my earlier posts,and i really appreciate the help you guys are great

From what i understand, yes the trannies are exactly the same. i think the 94 T-5 is a little beefier..but essentially the same.

as for the swap, everything you have external will bolt right up to the 3.4L engine. just use the 3.4L Crank, cam, lifters, pushrods, pistons, rods, etc etc...you should be able to swap in a short block actually, cause all external dimensions and bolt holes are exactly in the same location.

well there is a 95 camaro downt the strret from me and he wants 200 bucks for anything i want to take so im gonna go that route im gonna use the long block cause im told i should get more ponies that way. and its got only 40000 miles on it my 2.8 has 125000 and has developed a rear main oil leak so its time to go.

If you went form a 3.1 to 3.4 would i run intop smog problmes here in california my friend who is a mechanic said yes any ideas why if so. when my 3.1 goes i wana put a 3.4 in using the stock block and bore it out and put a cop cam 2030 in with rockers and have it ported and all. does this sound like it would pass also is it friendly with ur chip or do we need to get new ones

That smog technician is a moron then. You can put any motor that was offered for that class vehicle in there so long it is the same year or newer. I ran into this already and I live in CA. You will be just fine bro.

MARK28V6 you got the right idea, just swap the block w/ heads and injectors in. You can use your old tranny, not sure in the new one will work but thats easy enough to compare the two when you have them out.

Sounds like a pretty good deal on the parts did he total this or something? Is it just engine parts? If not you may want to grab the seats and such too... Anyways let me know on your questions. I've been there.

yeah the car has been t boned its in bad shape but the motor runs excellent and has the blck or charcoal leathes not sure what they call it but everything is in awsome shape except for the body.he is lettin me take anything i want for 200 bucks so im takin the console,door panels,wheels and tires,seats front and rear,motor tranny and shifter it has a hurst on it,thedisc brake rear end,and whatever else i might need or want.

was the matter monkie you cant find any good dealks where you live just luck i guess.any info on teh 3.4 swap info on trans?? i would like to use the trans from the 95 if poss,hey would anybody be interested in my 2.8 with 5 speed it has a rear main leak new clutch but whatever just thought id help some out if they needed a 2.8 for their car at least it runs good

Well what do you consider a good deal? If you mean beat up nasty rusted camaros and firebirds then yea, they are all over the place !

grames he wants 190 fr the whole car and it runs good has 79--- miles on it and has tan leather the car is green. i odnt know where you are located but i could let him know if ya wish just let me know
