85 Camaro 2.8 turns off in reverse and drive help

Engine: 2.8 V6
Transmission: Auto
Axle/Gears: stock
85 Camaro 2.8 turns off in reverse and drive help

Just got my 85 Camaro 2.8 rebuild with new pistons crank shaft performance cam so i went to the shop to pick up my car i was about drive off home when all of a suden when i put in drive it turns off or in reverse only way i could get it to drive is if i put it in nutral and give it a lil bit of gas and pop in drive the mechanic said it could be my torque converte thats locks up so i took it to a transmission shop and they said it not the tranny its the motor has anyone had this problem what should i be looking for and also when i start the car blue smoke comes out

Sounds to me as if it was rebuilt, the shop who did the rebuild didn't do a good job... If the smoke happens only on startup and not full-time (like I would expect with some lube in the cylinders), then you probably have valve sealing problems, or the rings may still need to be broken in (probably the valves, though). You'll need to check for trouble codes from the ECM before going any further, but I would definitely talk to the shop who did the rebuild to find out what they did that the engine is burning oil...

Does the smoke come put as a "Puff" and float away in the shape of a balloon? Mine does that sometimes> We suspect Oil gettign through. Hopefully it "fixes itself" with good, sealing Oil.

Where Is that EMC located on the car? And is that expesive to replace? Also they told me that it could be my idle control that could be bad also and the blue smoke goes away when the car is idling but the and when i rev it a bit the motor strugles to rev up like

Check ur tps, ignition system or maybe an injector went bad....
