Ok i got a v6 thinken about putting some 108 octain gas in it. Good idea? Bad idea? Why? Why not.

Bad idea, from what I've heard. Basically let's say your motor was made to run 87 octane. When you run something like 108, your motor can't burn all of the higher octane up and causes wear on the engine. This is just what I've heard though. I mean, running plus isn't bad, but a 21 octane point jump is a bit much.

I don't think it would hurt anything mechanically. When octane is raised, it gives the gasoline a slower and more controlled "burn". It's usually used in high compression motors with very agressive timing.
I don't know if would help or hurt speed, though. I'd imagine it wouldn't help above 93/94 octane... like CamaroAggie pointed out, the motor's compression ratio (8.9:1) was meant for 87 octane.

like tom said, i don't think it'll hurt your engine. As far as racing people goes, plan a route down a local strip (racing area, highways, roadways, etc.) and make sure you have an idea of where you're going to stop for gas. Then, run the car on low ammounts of 92,93, or 94 octane. When you get low, just stop at the station and put in a couple dollars, then go race some more. But still, I don't think you'll be feeling much of a gain with super gas, in our low compression engines.

from what i herd it will do damage but i was talkin to this guy about usin 115 octaine fuel in my car cuz i was jokeing with my friend about wanting to shoot a piston out of my block and through my hood so i have an excuse to get a new hood and a new engine =) but im sure it would blow yours too and if this dosent make sence i apologise im in happyland right now 3.1firebird knows what i mean
Besides being a waste of your money, it WILL slow you down a bit. The above answers are correct, if you don't have the compression, your motor will not fully burn the fuel. I run 110 at the track. If I switch to 114, I can reproduce consistantly slower ET's. Mind you, its not much, but it is slower.
