2.8, 3.1, 3.4 TURBO?

Hey guys, I have an 85 Fbird with a 200k on it, I have a turbo kit from a 3.1L; should I rebuild the 2.8 and hook up the turbo or should I get a 3.1 or 3.4 engine??? If i got a 3.1 or 3.4 it would be used so I would probably do some work on it anyway.

I love my 2.8 but I wanna get as much power as possible so I can blow away some of those nasty 5.0 mustangs.

damnit, another 85 firebird, hey, how many 85's do you see around your area? just curious, theyr'e aren't many in ST. Louis, but of course all the ones are right around my house. I'd say, you might want to go up to the 3.4L, you'd be able to run more boost on it than the 2.8L, and you'd be starting with more base hp. just my opinion. oh yeah, where'd you get the kit?

My 85 is the only Fbird coupe I,ve seen down here, although I've seen an 85 Trans Am. Here in Dominican Republic you dont see too many third gen f body cars. Mostly second gen and fourth gen, they're really popular, but when anyone sees me pulling up in my black beauty all they can say is " How much do you want for it? ".

I got the turbo from a mechanic friend of mine that had it on a Grand Am, its not a stock turbo. He says that he'll even help me install the turbo.<< He loves my car>> But now I need to shop for an intercooler, a turbo timer, an engine oil cooler and a trans cooler oh and I gotta buy a shift kit for the 700 R4.

If you have any suggestions, Im not very handy with the wrench and am open to any suggestions.

Geez, uh, good luck on the turbo.

I have no idea how you're gonna make it fit though. The only turbos on Grand Ams were designed for the 2.0L OHC 4 cylinders.

Let us know how well it works out though.
