The heads are the same for the 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4. Yes, they should fit. There may be issues with smog fittings etc, but they will bolt to the head and fit the engine bay. I coated my OEM manifolds to keep the heat down until I get headers, but I went with a Dynamax exhaust from Summit. Sounds awsome!

Bottom line, as has been said any number of times in the past month alone, is that yes, the headers will bolt on. You will need to remove the AIR pump and system as the headers only have the provision for the EGR valve and no fitting for the AIR check valve and parts on the passenger's side.

Any reason why an AIR fitting can't be fitted into one of the header tubes? Drill a hole and weld in the required threaded fitting?? Is there room for the pump etc.?

I would doubt there is room for the AIR pump since the #1 header tube is right where the pump and parts would sit, which is why every header kit says that the AIR parts have to be removed to install the headers.

Re: Will these headers fit my 3.1?? exhaust questions to

Had an 80 series... Sounded like crap even when the engine DID run right... I got so sick of the drone it produced at 70 going down the highway for hours that I couldn't wait to rip it off (other than the fact that the guy who installed it couldn't even be bothered to make sure the tail pipes were straight and cut off the cat converter AND flange to weld the whole deal together... 2.5" in and out on a 2 1/4" pipe... ). Took me 5 hours to remove it due to the fact that I only had a hacksaw at the time.

My setup has pacesetter headers and Y-pipe, with a dynomax catback and magnaflow cat, sounds great. If I can ahold of my exhaust clip I'll link it.

$600 is about what you will spend, assuming dynomax still has the rebate on the catback.
Also when you get the headers, you have to strip the paint and repaint them, that paint will flake off the moment it sees exhaust temp, and painting over it won't work either...

Re: Will these headers fit my 3.1?? exhaust questions to

well i said forget headers for now, since i found out i need motor mounts and freeze plugs, so wat i did was use the stock but new looking down pipe which is 2.5", ran a 2.5" magnaflow high flow cat, 2.5" pipes with a 3" flowmaster muffler (dont know wat series it was in my basement) that has 3in chrome tips, sounds ok, no rasp at all, its just quiet, ya know what it sounds lik, sounds lik the 4.6 v8 mustangs with quiet flowmaster exhaust if taht makes sence, not v6 sounding at all, cept at very very high rpm u can here it a little, low rpms its freakin great, just queit, but its a blowmaster, prolly not best for performance but with the new work teh car needs i had to save a little money, i got pics ill shoot em up monday probaly, looks and sounds good now
