Starter ?

Ok, ever since I got it back from the paint shop, I can sometimes turn the key over, and hear the starter turning, but the engine's not doin anything. What's up w/ that? On the second or sometimes third try, it'll turn and crank. Any ideas?

Yea my 355 has had the same problem. So I took it to AutoZone because I have their lifetime warrenty Starter alternator and 5 year free replacement battery. Anywyas I thought the battery might not have enough to get it over sometimes. Well turns out that the Battery and alternator was fine. So the he checked the Amperage drawn by the starter when cranked it over. It was un godly, like 220amps, the most I have ever seen before was 150. So if my battery is not at exact full power it wont crank the first time. I dont think this really helps you, but I am goignto replace my starter for reliability concerns.

Sounds like the solenoid, might as well get a whole new (or rebuild) starter. I get my rebuilt starters for $60 from a guy that -only- rebuilds alternators & starters. I've been thru two of them in 6 years; he does great work. An AutoZone/Pep Boys rebuilt starter might not last as long; spend the extra cash for a lifetime one if you can.

it is your starter that is causing the noise. with the wear and tear of everyday driving you have just worn it down.

I had the same problem with my firebird and it was the solenoid this may be your problem or it could be your starter is just out of alignment.
