Pacesetter Header Gaskets
I know, I know, the question has been asked many times, but after 3 hours of searching I have been unable to find any post where a part number is given for the miraculous VW gaskets that fix the header leaks. I have no VW shop around and when I google them, all I find is crap info.
So, does anyone have a part number to the gaskets that are for some 1970's VW aircooled type 1 engine that fits the 2.8 with pacesetters?
Are these it?
Victor Reinz/Exhaust Manifold Gasket
Price:$2.99Part Number: F14591

Re: Pacesetter Header Gaskets
I don't have an answer to your question, but you might try just looking for metal gaskets for a 2.8, does not matter if they are for a header or exhaust manifold really, or you might try searching for a 3.4, when I pulled apart the 3.4 to put in my car it had metal exhaust gaskets on it, next time I have my headers off I plan to put them on it. Idk if the replacement ones available are metal though, but the 3.4 uses the same heads so if you can find metal ones for that they will work just fine.
Hope that helps.

Well if I am understanding most of the other threads asking about this problem, the diameter of the hole in the gasket for the 2.8 manifolds aren't large enough, but am not sure about the manifold gaskets from a 3.4. The hole needs to be 1.5inches IIRC. I may have to measure when I pull them tomorrow, can't stand the leak.

Re: Pacesetter Header Gaskets
As I said the 3.4 rwd engine(93-95 f-bodies) has the exact same cylinder heads therefore the exhaust manifolds or gaskets would bolt up just the same)

Re: Pacesetter Header Gaskets
Do they have larger opening than the exhaust manifold gaskets for the 2.8 heads? If not then they won't last as long. The thing with the ones for the VW engine is they are the proper opening for the pacesetter headers, which is larger than the opening on the old manifolds. I have one coming in tomorrow to be able to measure it and make sure it gives proper fitment. If it does I'll order the other 5. Will let you all know so that hopefully next time someone goes searching for this info they can find an answer with a real part number.

Idk, could always just take a dremel to them if they aren't big enough...

Re: Pacesetter Header Gaskets
Nope, these aren't it. Bolt holes align perfectly but opening is only 1.25inches. Opening in the crappy paper pacesetter gaskets are 1.5inches, just a tad smaller than the hole on the header. So..
I am going to install them anyways as the opening in my exhaust ports on the heads themselves is only 1.2inches, it just won't crush that raised area completely, but the gaskets are layered so they should work. Will holler back on this thread if they don't hold. Fingers crossed this is the fix.
