Well,I think I found the Camaro I've been looking for. Its an '89,has 109k miles on it,2.8 MPFI 5 speed manual.

Its the regular coupe. I havnt SEEN the car,but the guy told me about it today at work. He bought it to turn into a race car,but where he works screwed up on his taxes and filed him under being married with 2 kids,but in real life he is single.

So he owes tax money and sees this as an easy way out,selling me the car for $800.

There are some pros and cons here...maybe you guys can help me decide.

1: I need a car,PERIOD.
2: Its $800. How can I go wrong?
3: Hes putting a new clutch in this weekend.
4: It has an aftermarket sunroof that dont leak.
5: It does need a little work. One of the fenders will most likely need to be replaced he says. Not a big problem for me,I have close ties with several body shops.
6: The trunk release works,and the motor mechinsm works so thats all cool.
7: No broken glass,no weird noises,stock rims,has a burgandy paint job,slightly faded,grey cloth interior.
8: NO A/C!!!! This is FLORIDA damnit! Oh well...just saved me 300 pound of weight,right?

I suppose thats what the sunroof and windows down are for heheh

Does this sound good? Fairly low miles compared to my old RS...it had 140k miles on it...thoughts?

I should get a pic of it on tuesday and I'll scan it and post it.

If you ever go for serious horsepower, you might have a problem with that sunroof, especially if it wasn't installed EXACTLY correct. GM had a hard time getting the Fbodies to resist twisting in the first place, and had twice as hard a time on the TTops, so just keep that in mind, but for $800, I'd go with it anyways. Hell, I got my 92 for $750. I'd post pics, but I don't have any after my new paint job.

I am just wondering if the sunroof top looks goofy on our thirdgens or what... Is there a pic anywhere of one?

Also,the backseat..someone got mad and took a razor and made a nice X type slice...I guess I can find replacements for the back seats somewhere....

I'm not going to mod this thing out too much. this is just Camaro #1 of my collection I'm starting I want an IROC,and I'll get one sooner or later. (hopefully sooner.)

Seat Covers will take care of that, and they're machine washable.

 

AC can be retrofitted cheap at Discount... YOU NEED AC...

 

Also,its electrical system works fine with no quirks he says. I'm kinda hyped,I mean its only got 109k miles!

After I get the body work done on the car I'm gonna prolly paint the car white...Then I'll add black RS stripes (my dad has a auto graphix and accesory business and he can stripe cars with his eyes closed and sober).

I wonder how well the stock rims will clean up...I kinda would like to put the '91-92 5 spoke rims on it...hmm...how much do they cost?
