Block question

I went to the local junkyard looking for a 3.1 block, but no place within 500 miles has any. I did however get lucky and find a 2.8 w/ the injection system and everything. My question is, what would I do to make this at least a 3.1? I'm trying to rebuild a tough little 6 while I'm driving mine around. And would I use the MPFI off of my 3.1 right now, or the 2.8 if I get it? What really IS the difference between the 3.1 and 2.8 other than 5HP and about 20ft/lbs torque?

2.8 and 3.1 use the exact same block, and probably EFI setup, IIRC. Difference is the crankshaft, connecting rods, and perhaps the pistons. As far as I know, that's all that is different. Might have to change the computer, but maybe not. Best of luck.

I hope you have not bought it yet, because your not getting the right answer.
You want a 3.4 long block set up and do the swap, like I did.
Keep phoning until you find one.
There has to be one so much closer. Go to a local insurance place and ask thenm for recent wreck car lot suggestions.
I paid $800 for my 3.4 and this car now pulls like a freight train!

Hey Ked, that'd be nice, but I'm looking for a block only. I want to redo the cam, crank, pistons and everything. And you forget, I'm in deep East Texas, miles away from any decent junkyard. I might drive to Dallas and get a 3.4 if i can find one cheap enough tho.
