Question on GFX

I'm getting a frame off paint job on my Firebird( apparently the former owner freaking banged it up 24-7 so the body is full of filler and the front bumper has been repared oh so many times ), anyways I found a good deal on front and rear T/A bumpers with the complete T/A GFX's. Anyone here have them on your V6 bird.

I'm a little concerned on them being too heavy and affecting my overall performance. I know it robs the T/A of a few tenths off its E.T. But I need to know if it would be very drastic on my car. I dont mind a few tenths off 'cause I dont really race at the tracks or anything but I dont want it to really affect my off the line and handling. By the way I finally picked up the 3.4 with only 30k miles on it!!

Frame-off.. you're going to separate the frame from the car?

Oh ok I thought frame off was getting all the possible body panels off the frame. Well what I meant was that my cars fenders, doors, seats, hatch, hood, bumpers, console, dash, carpet, headliner...etc, will be removed. The undercarriage will be treated with anti-oxidant, all the little rust holes will be cut off and replaced with steel patches...etc. I'll take advantage and clean my wiring up a little, replace all the cut wires and the weatherstripping.

We were just having some fun with you! (Altho I didn't know what you meant...) Is the undercarriage of your car that rusted out?

No but its a good idea to give it the antioxidant cause I live in a Caribbean island, so rust can be a b*tch. I do have a few rust spots on the underside of the doors, on the inner edges under the rear hatch and around the windshield, also the previous owner installed a sunroof on it and I'm removing it.

So do you think that the GFX's would really slow me down?

The T/A GFX are all plastic. If that is all you are doing it will not affect your performace to anything you will notice. Maybe .1 in the 1/4, but just think how much better it will look.
