Hmm, either buying some interior components for the 69, or finding another 3rd gen (the Toyota isn't cutting it in the speed department!!!).

Well.... considering I made over $7K (not bad for a cart jockey) this year, I'm somehow only getting $150 back.... and that's going toward paying my parents back for the $700+ 2.8->3.4 swap....

Ouch.... Here's an even better one. Shortly after spending my entire refund in my head, I remembered that my best friend (who's cool enough to never remind me about this) and I went to Daytona Beach last spring, and cause I was recovering financially from an accident I caused, he payed my way. So now that I'm paying him back with interest, I'm down to about $75. Can we say "gas"?

Paid in $1600 and got back $3500. Lets see, Momma got new boots, the kids getting a new drum kit ( we're getting earplugs ), and I get my new squier bass guitar and a piston kit for my 350. Now I have to find a way to spend the other $2000.

I'm probably buying a CO2/Argon tank for my MIG welder, and past that, well, I don't know. Maybe an engine rebuild kit?

Hey Tom, I think we've all noticed you seem to know a little bit more about welding then the average man. How'd you get into all that? You're still in school, right? Tell me you keep all this welding gear in a dorm room?
Seriously though, how'd you get started? Seems like a useful skill to pick up...

I made around $7700 last year, and i got about $700 back. I bought 91 rs ground effects, and put the rest away to save for my paintjob. I thought $450 for front bumber cover, front ground effect, 2 rocker panels, 2 door fillers, 2 rear quarter panels, and a back bumper cover was a pretty good deal...

Heh, thanks, Reno.
Yeah, I'm still in college, in fact I could've had a graduate degree by now; but I don't live in a dorm. I just got into it... it started because I noticed my right rear 1/4 is rusting away to nothing! Last year I bought my welder (Lincoln Electric Weld-Pak 100) and a MIG-conversion kit with my tax refund $$.
The LE Weld-Pak is a gasless (or flux-core) MIG welder.. meaning the wire it uses is similar to solder. In the center of the wire is a flux that simulates gas. Gas is used in wire-feed (same as saying MIG, Metal Inert Gas) welders as a shield from contaminates. With all the electricity going on, if there was no sheilding gas, the sparks would pull in all kinds of garbage from the air.
The gasless version needs more electricity to burn the wire- and you can't use it for car sheetmetal work. It'll actually burns through thin metal! The MIG-conversion-Kit for the WeldPak converts it into a true MIG. It comes with the gas regulators, tubing, gun liner, nozzles, etc to adapt the welder to take gas. (LE also sells MIG-Pak 10 & 15 welders that come with that stuff already, and they sell the conversion kit to go "backwards" to a gas-less MIG.)
So right now I can weld thick stuff, like 1/8th inch or bigger, but I can't use the welder on my car- until I get the gas bottle. The gas I'd use for the MIG is "inert", as ya know that means it won't explode- it's a mix of CO2 and Argon. That's why I didn't get the Acetalyne (sp) welder.. the gasses are flammable, and if you store the cylinders wrong, they can explode. So I can only weld with my welder, I can't do any cutting.
So basically I just got into it from necessity. The Haynes Welding Manual ($15 @ Home Depot) taught me a bunch about welding, and what kind of welder to get. The MIG is the easiest to learn out of all types of welding, and it's best suited to sheetmetal work. Arc-Welding is too powerful, it's like a high-po version of a flux-core MIG. It's not that hard to MIG-weld.. it's more of a "feel" than anything. It's sort of like riding a bike, you can read about it all ya want, but you gotta ride the damn thing for a while to get going.
Plus I got to buy & fill a tool box with welding stuff; gloves, clamps, wire, wire brushes, etc!
[edit] Oh the welder itself isn't that large.. maybe the size of a toaster oven, so I guess it could be put into a dorm room. You can buy small gas bottles too, but it's like paying for a small soda at the movie theater as opposed to paying a few cents more for a bigger one.
