Dale Earnhardt DIES at Daytona, last lap
Yes, He is dead.
Saw the accident.
Watched the ambulance go, to slow, to the hospital.
His Son, taking second, went to the hospital, also.
His son, was not involved in the accident taking his Father's life.

I can't say it enough, how I cheered for him, as a racer.
Godspeed, Dale.
My thoughts and prayers, just so sad

Didnt someone else related to him just die recently too i cant remeber i just know someone diedd several months ago to. What happend to cause the accident
I just posted this on another message board, so I guess I'm just repeating myself....
I know some of you probably aren't big fans of NASCAR, but whether ir not you are, everyone should admit that Dale Earnhardt Sr. was a great, if not THE greatest NASCAR driver in history. It is kind of ironic that he died trying to help a friend and a employee (if you will) win his first race in 462 starts. Usually he would've been right up there, trying to take the win himself. But he selflessly blocked the pack of cars breathing down his neck to help someone's dream come true. He will be sorely missed, may he rest in peace.
(No... I didn't cry at the end of Old Yeller... But this does have me choked up...

I'm a huge NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan. I can honestly say I'm not a big Dale fan, but I hate to see this. I do think that the two best drivers are Dale and Richard Petty. I'm just still in shock. I don't think it could have happened at a better place or time for him, at Daytona during the 500.
We'll miss you Dale.

I don't follow Nascar, but it's definately a shame that happened. I heard about it last night at the diner. I feel bad for his son. I spotted a couple "3" flags flying outside houses today...

As a NASCAR fan and growing up in it's own backyard all I can say is that this is very sad. It's been on the news all day today. Usually I don't get choked up over something like this but it is different today. I was never a fan of his but he did help out the sport a whole lot and will be missed. RIP #3

Very sad day indeed. I am not a big NasCar fan but know he was one of the best drivers out there. I too saw the wreck and at first didn't think he hit that hard, atleast it didn't look like it compared to some of the wrecks i have seen drivers walk away from. It truely (for what ever reason) was his time.
He lived and died doing what he loved to do, you can't ask for anything more then that... Gods speed.... You will be missed....

I drove by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet down below my house today to pay my respects today. It was so sad. Everyone was slowing down and they had the checkered and US flags at half mast. Sad moment.

it is a sad event in motorsports weather or not your a nascar fan.. Dale Sr. was in my opinion the best winston cup driver there was.. at only 50, not only a family man, but a family man on the track as 87CamaroLT pointed out, helped mikey waltrip take first by fighting off the other cars, also helping his boy maintain second.. im glad to see Dale Jr. is still gonna race at Rockingham in this upcoming race in a black car rather than his normal red, Bud car.. also the #29 team car is going to be all white and the crew will wear all plain white as a tribute to Dale.. a great man in motorsports and he will be missed.
rest in peace Dale #3

Here in phoenix, one of the local radio stations reporters said something that struck me as very well said.
He said: "Dave dies doing what he loved most and he drove his car straight through the pearly gates and God helped him out of his car and welcomed him home."
Such a sad time in the racing community.
Thanks Dale, for your devotion to the sport, and to the fans.
