ATTN: 3.1 firebird or anyone else......need help with 3.4 headers. please

i called summit and they told me that they sell 3.4 liter headers (pacesetter) for a 93-94 camaro. but they said that it wouldnt work on my car when i told them i was going to put them on my 2.8. is this just because they are stupid or are they right? do they have to be from a 3.4 liter firebird? anyway i think they just dont know what they are talking about. they told me that they cost 188.00 too. does that sound right? if that is a good price let me know and let me know where u all got yours. i also need to know EXCATCLY what needs to be done to fit these to my car......custom y pipe, bent pipes, ect.???? thanks in advance

Summit's correct that they won't fit your application. They're thinking "fit" as in "direct-bolt-in". The headers will bolt to the 2.8, but that's as far as "fit" goes... Summit is saving you (and them) the trouble of buying 'em, trying to put 'em on, calling them up, yelling at them that "no they don't fit", and then having you return them- basically covering their butts, which is fine.

But you know the real story- they can be made to fit. I don't know the work needed though, other people do...

yes they can fit, you have to heat them up with a torch until they glow pink then put a pipe in the collector and bend them a little, let them cool, then bend them again to get a fit. You need a vice to hold them BTW. Heat the headers about in the middle of the primaries and be careful. THen take it up to a muffler shop and have them make you a custom ypipe. Make sure the muffler shop is good because the passenger side part of the y has a real difficult and sharp bend to be made, so go to someone that is good. Its not that difficult but you have to be careful not to overheat the pipe and take it slow ,dont get in a rush.

also the headers dont have AIR tubes and the O2 sensor will only read off #5 cylinder because of the O2 bungs on the headers. So you will also need to get a hooker O2 bung and have a shop weld it into the colector and have your AIR tube installed also if you want legal headers.
