well not too bad. Ive seen some ppl convert v6 tranny's to 305's. i think the thing that holds it back is the v6 clutch since its smaller and doesnt seem to be able to handle the extra power. i took my car to a mustang shop (dont ask) and their going to swap my v6 input shaft to a v8 input shaft for a v8 clutch since i kept burning the v6 clutches up.

I remember someone saying that all the internals of the v8 R4, are the same as the v6 R4.

thanks Gents!

i've been looking for firebird with t-tops and manual here Finland. but most of them are automatics. i found one low mileage 2.8 -87 with manual and t-tops. i asked price of turbo conversion for it. it was 23k to 26k fim inc. labour. that's around 4k$.

anyway, advantages of V6 is less weight on front and 3.42 gears.

the turbo mods i asked will give reasonable 200hp which i think would be enough for high 14's.

anyway total price of this pacgage will be same as -89 350 TPI GTA's traded here, but those are always automatics :-P

And just as a little more info, I have my V6 5-speed sitting behind a 350 right now. Granted, it isn't a very strong 350 but puts out a lot more power than my old V6 did. I did upgrade the clutch size too.

As to the internals of the 700r4 automatics, yeah, they're 95% the same between V8 and V6. The v8 got some more clutches in the clutch packs, and a thick sprag somewhere (forget which sprag). The V6 got a thin sprag and a spacer- talk about GM being cheap! Of course I can't help with the T-5 question...

MikeS: how did you put 350 and V6 T5 together? did you changed bellhousing or used adapter? and how's the clutch, what parts did you used since axle of V6 T5 is different?

thanks in advance!
