Strange Problem
Strange Problem
Well...to start of I have a 3.1 92 RS and the problem is that during normal acceleration my cars RPMs will be like 1,000 - 2,000 higher than normal and my acceleration sucks. As this happens my service light comes on and stays on then about 1-2 minutes later it goes out and everything is better. Im noticing it happening more and more. It doesn't go on when i start my car so ...i don't know how to get the code.
The only modification is that I took out the air box and moved the sensor on the box in the tubing. The sensor is closer to the raidiator so maybe it could be getting to much heat from that. But thats my only suggestion.
Thanks for your help,
Jeff

The code is still stored in the computer once it's been tripped UNLESS you go through like 50 consecutive starts without a single code being tripped.. just run the comp for codes, the end.
If you don't know how to pull your codes: There's a little rectangular black box (possibly covered) under the driver's side of the dash to the right of the steering wheel (in non-airbag equipped thirdgens). Yank the cover (if present) and it should have 12 little slots for a cable to hook up to it. Get a paper clip and bend it into a U shape.
1: Ignition off
2: Insert paper clip into upper right slot and slot directly to the left of the upper right slot

3: Turn key to RUN position (Not start or bulb test.. can't stress enough, DO NOT START THE CAR)
4: Your fan will come on, and your SES light will start flashing after a couple secs.. first code will be a 12 (code 12 is entirely normal, don't worry about it.. ECM is just complaining about there being no distributor reference pulses, which there shouldn't be with the engine off), shown by the light as 'flash, pause, flash, flash'. It will flash this sequence 3 times. Other codes should follow. Report those other codes to us and TomP in his infinite wisdom will probably post a huge and entirely confusing diagnostic chart the likes of which you'll hopefully never have to see again..
5: After it starts flashing code 12 agan, turn ignition to OFF, remove key, remove paper clip. The end.
EDITS: Nifty picture didn't quite look right with the variable-width font..

2.8l MPFI/700r4 /w special 2nd gear delete option
In search of new v8 engine & transmission, now contemplating t5 swap to get me out of this mess.
MSD coil, Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers, possible performance chip I don't know about.. gotta crack open the ECM and check sometime
