When 2nd gen's attack

Ment to post this last night but ended up going to bed... Its a kill story so it might get locked --> grin..

So i sold the 91 bird and got a deal on a TA which didn't pan out and then got another deal on a 78 T/A with a 403... Last tuesday i got a shipment in from the good ol friendly UPS driver --- hark it was my manifold and carb --- woot... so tuesday and wednesday i spent putting it on and tuning it best i could remember --- god the days of carbs... i missed em... Anyways so out for the test drives and turning. Well on the way back a mid ninties mustang zips across the street and punches it to catch me and the open space at the light. he reves, i glance over and smile. Light goes green and he is off like a shot, i didn't even try. He gets upto the next light (and the last one before open road) (see didn't even try comment) I pull up and yawn at him, so he revs at me again, i am about to rev it up (as a 403 sounds much better) and as i am just starting to get the foot on the gas a LOUD rev sounds off from behind me... Its a old primered Z28 prolly late 70's early 80's may have been a 1st gen but i dunno what year cut off's they had. It sounded nice, so the light goes green and i punch it laying a nice posi strip for about 30 feet. The Z is right on my tail and the mustang is slightly ahead of me and losing fast... At 2nd gear and a healthy chirp i lung forward and and the Z is still on me and pulling around. He gets upto my window (even) and waves gives thumbs up and then ya hear the famious engine get louder and faster... he is gone... (nos) Meanwhile i look down at the speedo 95 in a 45, glance back and the mustang is losing ground so i let off... the lil stang decides to blow by me at atleast 95 to 100 as i am slowing down. I am figuring i am in the low 14's as it stands right now. The TA isn't stock, it has a cam, manifold, carb, headers and exhaust. The heads (so he said are lightly home ported and the air system is gasket matched. I can waste a AOD 5.0 LX and those are in the 15's, a 5 speed are supposed to be high 14's... Anyways i thought i would bring ya guys some justice from a firebird V6 lover and respecter That stang btw is one that blew my 91's doors off before i built her, i never got the chance to beat him after the build but know i could have, or atleast kept up, i know now the new owner can beat the snot outta him running 13.98 on NOS. He can whoop me by about a car or two in the 1/4 altho i do beat him stop light to stop light... gimmi about a month or so and when i get heads i will stomp him heheh... don't give up on the 60 degree guys, theres two here that will beat most cars out here and lose to few...

i love 2nd gen cars. too bad most of them are slugs with smogger motors. sounds like your runs pretty good. my dad has a 79 Z-28 with a 4 speed he is restoring. he thinks he is gonna beat my IROC, heh. if he does, i'll just have to put laughing gas on and blow his big black doors off!!

------------------
86 IROC-Z
40,000 miles!!
305 TPI
1 gutted maf/airbox
2 k&n filters
3 manual cooling fan switch
4 headers, no cat, cat back flowmaster
700R4 tranny
1 shift kit
2 manual converter switch
BF Goodrich radial TAs
3.23 gears
georgous car repainted by my dad and assembled by me
