How can i get some more horse power or just any more power out of this? I want to eventually put in a refurbished V8, but i dont have anywhere near enough money for it at the moment. Just what can i do to this, basically base, car to get more out of it. Hopefully somethings that arent to hurtful to my wallet, and that i could carry over later on down the road, should i get a v8. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. has anyone else noticed how frustrating it is to find so many engine accessories and enhancements geared only towards v8's. lol, maybe i'm just not looking in the right places, but it drives me crazy.

Check everyone's sig. I did just about everything I could think of without breaking the bank.

its a 3.1 not a 3.0 unless im mistaken
but ya hes right, checks sigs. go to ur local like home depot and look around for stuff. your looking for some dryer hose and a Y addapter. measure your intake first cause i dont know the specs you'll need. from what ive heard, this is easy. just attach an open ends to like infront of the grill run them up, and use the Y addapter. i think some of that guard stuff could help too, the stuff you use to keep leaves and water out of the intake. you could also drop 50 bucks on an open element (dont need if you get an intake, or vise versa i dont think). ummm... if its a manual drop like 150 on a new hurst or b&m ripper shifter and tighten up your shifts. new centerforce clutch helps too. without spending a lot of money.. go grab some 8mm or 8.5mm wires and hook them up, gets u some high end RPM power. if you wanna go all out, drop in a all new ignition system and start that sucker with the flick of a wrist
. MSD (?) is what people here recommed i think. MSD and ACDelco. hmmmm.... if ur desperate u could drop some weight. lose the back seats, take out jack and spare tire (if tires are in REAL good condition and u can risk it) stuff like that. *thinks* there is a lot of stuff on here about this topic...i posted something like this a few months ago when i found the site, im sure there is a tech article too. gimmie a min maybe ill think of something else..
FULL TUNE UP! ! ! ! ! ! that should be #1 anyway
if you wanna drop the cash.. get a wet NOS kit. nitrous does an engine good if done right. just make sure u get a fuel pressure guage, new fuel filter every few thousand miles, new igntion which u should already have, and ull be good to go. i cant think of any more HP mods.. but if you wanna make that sluggish handeling be tighter then hel! itself, throw in some subframe connectors (welded kind) some new shocks, gas-a-just is what they use i think, new struts, a wonderbar from a junk yard and ull be set. maybe a new posi rear end and get some nice burn outs going. then u go to apperance. drop in some nice 4th gen leather power seats. get ur paint lookin nice, throw on some fog lights if u dont got em, tint ur windows, get blackouts for front and back lights. next step.. GO KILL THE MUSTANGS! JK you got a V6. Next step is to save a **** load of cash and fabricate your own turbo or supercharger, and sell them to us too and make up all the cash u spent on ur car!
ok im gonna stop rambaling now, half that **** is prolly WAY off so ill let like tomP or one of the other smart guys come down here and show me up

my car runs 16 flats, but I cant get very good traction with the open rear, so it should be good for high 15's.

What's nice about things like a homemade intake, or an MSD ignition box, or an exhaust, or transmission/suspension changes- a lot of the things will work for a future v8 motor!
Here's the major tuneup info that FordRustangs mentioned: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000545.html
