the white one is an 89 camaro needs paint and interior
fresh 350 converted from tpi to carb edlelbrock intake and carb
im going to pull the black interior out of the the firebird and install it into the maro and use it as a daily driver after it goes out for paint
getting painted either 2 tone black on top and deep blue metalic on the bottom or
dark blue metalic with silver flames

also got a spotless new front and rear bumper covers with the car
and also got the correct 3 piece rear spoiler for the iroc

the tpi to carb conversion was a hack job looks like they took a bolt cutter and just snipped of the harness were it runs into the fender to run back to the ecm they left wires everywere thats first on the list and should only take me a day to fix other then that the 80's era knockoff centers on the rims are comming off for sure .

if i dont do that ill have to grow a ****** ,install side pipes and throw some air shocks in the rear

the 87 bird has a supposed blown up 305 in it.the guy i bought it from knows nothing about the car as he bought it for the interior only and never looked into the motor issue

so once i remove the interior from the bird to install into the camaro im going to install a 10pt cage
if the 305 in it isnt bad it will get a set of block huggers flipped over and turbo flanges welded on for a twin turbo setup
if its bad im either going to install my 3.0L gt45/ soon to be s475 turbo combo in the car or do what i would do with the 305 except get a junkyard 350 and boost that grenade style

rear wing is deffinatly comming off the back of the bird, and getting rid of the rims on it for a set of gta rims

get this i paid 1,500 for both cars + the extra rear and front bumper covers for the camaro plus the guy is towing the cars to me but he can only throw one at a time on his trailer so he has to make 2 600 mile roundtrips to bring me the cars for 1200 miles total

hell the way i look at it i pretty much paid about 1000 for the cars and the rest is going twards a tow bill :2thumbs:

^^^^^^copied from another board ^^^^^^^

but ive decided to put my 3.0 in the bird instead of doing the tt v8 since i havent been able to locate another clean v6 car.hell i had to drive 300 miles to find these

the 3.0 is ready to go just need to figure out an new intercooler system since it was designed around a camaro front end and not a firebirds front end

the camaro comes first though as i have a few things i need to fix before it goes out for paint because thats going to be my daily driver,so i can finally get rid of the pos 96 intrepid ive been daily driving

going to need it lol the firebird is a lil ruff

so far ive laid out my plan for the car
next weekend im going to gut the interior so i can install the carpet sets and black plastics into the camaro, need to get he tear on the drivers seat fixed.
from there im going to pull the dash, heater core and heater plumbing
im going to irder my cage and frame conectors this weekend
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEE-3226-K/
from there ill move onto getting the motor installed and wired and then work on a t5 swap and getting the intercooler system figured out

Dude, your in freaking Utah now? That's a long ways from Jersey....

So what is going on here, the White Camaro will be used as an everyday driver, while the Firebird will get your 3.0 build? What's up with the other car, the blue '89 camaro, your not building that one anymore...?

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

yeah my previous job had me traveling all over the country doing construction i got tierd of it and liked it out here in utah so i got a place, been looking at a few houses and about to pull the trigger on a house for 38k 2bdrm 2 car car garage and lots of property only thing that sucks is the town population is about 1,200 ppl ,the nearest friggen walmart is like 60 miles away lol. the nearest racetrack to me is vegas which is 263 miles away not to bad but dam i miss living 5 mins away from the track

the rs is staying as is the firebird is going to be more of a drag car with occasional street use i.e gutted aluminum door panels 10pt cage solid motor/trans mounts etc etc

That's great man, I'm glad for you. The population is low by you, but at least you don't have to deal with what's here, and you know exactly what I'm talking about lol....

Lot's changed though bro, not sure you would have been able to keep up with the GTA this summer anyways even if you did stay lol. I'm still slowly but surely working on that little 305 turbo build in that Anniversary TA that I bought from Paul. When are you starting a build thread for the new Firebird....?

84-85? Honda Magna 700?

I have the same bike with 10k miles and my dad has a V65 Magna with 5.5K miles, V65 is in showroom condition, my bike is almost showroom. Cleaning the carbs on those bikes is PITA

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

hey killert thanx for the tips on the carbs, got it apart got the carbs cleaned out runs like a champ again, though it was a bitch trying to get the carbs back on the motor, took me 2.5 hours of cursing and throwing **** before i got the carbs to pop back into place lol

anyways lil change of plans on the firebird but only temporarily
im not going to convert the iroc back to tpi instead im going to leave it carbed.
in the meantime im going to use the dead 305in the bird and the bird to mock up a twin turbo kit for the iroc.this way i can still drive the iroc around till the kit is done.shouldnt take long as alls i have to do is make downpipes really
this is the kit i bought and should be shipping out to me on monday or tuesday

i also found a cheap vic jr intake locally, so ill just have to source an holley 650 dp to convert to blow through carb use and find a carb hat.

prolly only take me a week to mock this stull up on the firebird an have it transfered over to the iroc

thogh i dont know what im going to do about the hood yet, either cut holes in the stock hood and have covers/popds fabed . or get a cowl hood and do the same

Those headers bring the turbo's very very high in the air, are you sure you want to do that? Your a welder Dave, just make your own for crying out loud lol. Look how high these headers bring them, as you'll be cutting more than just mere "holes" in the hood lol....

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

I know what you mean about building stuff bro, after the '84 is done.... so am I lol. Next project will be bought, and the only work I'll be doing from that point forward is spark plug and oil changes, for the next few years that is. Here is an idea though, why not make a set of 45 degree spacers, between the turbo flange and header flange, and bring the turbo's more directly over the plenum. This way you can run a 3 1/2" - 4" cowl without cutting up anything.

By the way, don't waste your time on a Holley. They're great carbs, but if I were you I would convert a manual choke Edelbrock or Carter 600 (305) or 650 (350) for blow-thru. They are super easy to convert, and work flawlessly. Float mod, needle and seats, marine accelerator pump, and a little dremel work and it's done. Could do it for under $75.00 bucks if need be, and it only takes a few hours....

yeah but those dont have adjustable air bleeds, the holley seems simple enough.
drill the pvcr's epoxy the choke holes , floats and accel pumps

shouldnt cost that much to convert a holley

You tune them with piano wire on the AFB's. Meh, but it sounds like you have your heart set on the Holley. I still think you should switch back to TPI, though....

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

yeah i know u can do that but theres just something about hanging a piece of thin wire down into the carb i dont like.not to mention im much more familiar with holley carbs.

there is one big thing i dont like about the holley though , u cannot run the power valve protection with it being a blow threw carb, so a single backfire can take out the pv .

to be honest id love to convert back to tpi but god dam everyone wants an arm and a leg for an incomplete tpi manifold set. and right now after purchase of the turbos/wastegates/headers and vic jr i have about 1,100 budget left for the iroc

the harnes in the car is ruined so id have to either get a new harness and stuff to tune the stock ecm + buy injectors

or b

buy another megasquirt/harnesss for 325 bucks + tpi intake + injectors

either wich way would kill my budget

right now im looking pretty good at
300 bucks for fmic + piping
another 100 bucks in downpipe materials
50-75 bucks for a used holley 650 dp 4150 series +100 bucks in parts for it

so thats about 575 out of my budget and still leaves me 525 for odds and ends like oil feeds and return, my wideband and the fuel pump/regulator

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

then again i could always tap into the larger budget i have for the firebird since the motor for that is already built , but that would prolly mean no chromoly cage and or no paint job

Be sure to start a build thread soon in the Power Adder section with plenty of pics. You already know where I am with the '84 Trans Am, as I'm not too far ahead of you in terms of getting it done, as I have a LOT of work left to do before I can get it to the dyno/track....

I had that thing sitting in the garage forever, but I had Paul send it off to scrap for me about a month and a half ago. Here are some pics that will give you a good visual....;

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

instead of cutting up your hood why not just fab up your own headers something like what you did for the 6 and move the turbo's up front where the reservoir and washer bottles are

the cutouts in the above pic's look like crap

i know you said your thinking about dropping the k member and modding the hood some to cover them just seems like a lot of unnecessary work

Re: i can finally finish my 3.0 build

its actually less work for me to fab 2 hood bulges then it is to do 2 headers, this stuff is also going on my daily driver so i want to finish it quick.
besdies the price for 2 turbos,2 wastegates,2headers,2 inlet bells was cheaaaaappppppp
