Without mods your compression ratio theoretically dictates 87 octane. Run your car almost empty, fill up on 89, see how it changes.. run that almost out, fill up on 87, see again how it changes.. figure out what your car is happiest with. Mine personally loses tons of power and milage on anything but 87.

Audio Mods: Pioneer DEH-P3000, two 12" Optimus Pro Audio subs in hand-made enclosure each powered by a 260 watt Optimus amp. Working on shaving the box for weight.

I have to use 93-94 octane or my car makes wierd clicking sounds. It sucks cuz its more expensive but only by like $.10/gal. My MPG sucks. I put at least $10-$20 in a day. Ofcoarse i've put about 35,000 mi on my car in about 6 months so I probably just drive too much. Sux being the only one in my group of friends with a car.

My car used to -hate- Sunoco 94. I'd lose power, and the car would ping like crazy. But now, after the MSD 6AL box, I can use the stuff- and it feels like it gives my car the biggest boot in the butt! My car used to love Exxon, now it acts like a dog on it- but the tank of gas lasts forever. Go figure.
Oh- I run the high-octane because my aftermarket chip (ADS) tells me to.

I run 92 in my 2.8? My milage sucks, but i have never tried 89. Could this make a difference? Is it bad to switch octane ratings like that?

Use whatever octane goes with your compression ratio. Or whatever your car likes. My 89 had 89 in it its entire life, and wouldn't run good on anything else (go figure!).

Could it be a possibility that a lot of us with v6's could be getting bad gas mileage because of the way the computer learned our habits? Say I d/c'd my battery and when I drove the car again I drove it hard to thoroughly test the changes I had made, and the computer learned to dump gas in? This may be from left field but I remembered something about the computer adapting to our style when its reset.

well with gas you get what you pay for. you buy the cheap stuff you get shi*y performance. Personally I use 92/3/4 octane only. I have noticed a significant diferences between not only octane but the actual name brand..exxon ammaco ect. The best performance and milage has been with ammaco 93/4. I get close to 380 miles to the tank with it. The thing is it is also the most expensive. Its up to you to choose the money per milage and quality.

ynomax ultra flow stainless steel umm no that IS miles. on the straight highway I can get closer to 420-450. I can fill in illinois and drive to the middle of kentucky on I-64 before filling up then get halfway through VA before refilling.
