Is this car it?
I know this is not a third generation car. but i love it and need some advice. I found a 1995 pontiac firebird,106,000 miles, perfect paint and real clean interior. It is a 5 speed which i like. Everything works, and after i did a little visual inspecting i found no leaks. It will be put in the air before i buy. The guy is asking 4800. Do you guys think this is a good price? By the way it is a v6. Let me know what you all think. thank you.
I would be leary of buying a car with miles that high.. For 4800 hold out a little longer and look for one with lower miles, or something in the 80,000 range at least. In my opinion at 100,000 your asking for a lot of little work, bushings, timming chain, compression test, new rotors, bearings.... Mine has a 180,000 runs perfect, but I would never unless it was a collectors car buya high mileage car unless the price was RIGHT... Offer him 3500 if ya really like it.. Take the cash with you and whip it out and go here I can do 3500 cash.
Dude think about it, its a 95 so probably they're highway miles. But I've seen 94 Z-28's for $8000 with less than 85k miles, so do this, try to lower the price to $4000. Now remember one thing, GM says their fuel injected engines have a life expectancy of well over 200k miles so dont expect the guy to give in easily just cause he has high miles.
If he doesnt wanna give in and your mechanic says the car is decent then buy it, I think its a good deal if those are highway miles, now if the interior is all f****d up then they're not highway miles and the car has been abused.
But then again if I were you I'd save 4000 more and get a Z-28/ T/A for around $8k because I've heard the 3.4's in fourth gens don't perform really great due to the new F body's weight. But then again thats just what I heard, I can't back that up.

Look at it this way, my buddy picked up his 1994 Z28 with 79,000 miles from the paper for 6,800.... Owned by a lady who had no kids at her house. He has had it problem free for 2 years now. I personally don't care if it can last 200K or has all ben highway miles over 100,000 miles is still over 100,000 miles in the end. JUST MY OPINION... I say that cause I could kick myself for things I have done and buying a car with over 100K would be one of them.

A lot depends on how a car is taken care of. I just sold my sister a '95 Grand Am I bought for a driver, and drove for a month when I thought I was selling the RS to make room for the Z28. It has 111k on it, and quite frankly runs better than some of the cars on the lot at work with half that. If a car has signs of being taken care of, that probably means that it was! I'd rather have a babied car with 100k than a beat car with 60k any day of the week. Mileage doesn't mean nearly as much as it used to.
