another egine swap and other questions...
I was looking into swaping a 4.3 into my 92 and I am sure it will fit. I have decided on this engine because it has good power possibility and they actually make parts for it. I have also seen a circle track guy in st louis running a turbo under the hood on his 4.3. He is currently running 24 PSI on it and he does not want to push it too much farther. I think I have seen 4150 cranks for the 4.3 and they should live up to alt more boost but I lost the web page.
Now the other question is I was looking at rebuilding my 3.1 and was tring to see if the 3.4 crank would fit under the stock 3.1. I think it should, It is supposed to be the same block and I can get a new one for under 150. I know I will have to get a new igntion setup to handle the extra compression. I hope it will pump up a few ponies.

In your area....
3.4 blocks can go for as little as $300-500.
Why experiment?
Go with the sure thing!
3.4 fits right, it can work right, you win!
Price out the machining costs first! Then see why it so advantageous to just go get a 3.4 block and put out that effort!

Actually, keep the V6. I think that it'd be an interesting project. And too often people "go with a 350." Honestly, the only 2 engines I'd swap in my car would be a 4.3 or a 383. And yes, I do know that a 383 is a stroked 350, but it's still a SBC, and it's got quite a punch. Plus not many people around here that I know have a 383, they're all 350's. I'd like to be a little different. Besides, with the room saved with that 4.3 you could fab an awesome TT setup and launch with the torque of a 6, and then really kick in. The TTA wouldn't have **** on ya.

I like the idea of a 4.3 in one myself. My 92 S-10 blazers 4.3 is rated at 185 hp, my new (to me) 86 Z with the 305 was rated at 160 hp. Don't knock the 4.3 it's got good potential and very few people have realized just what that engine is capable of.

well I know some of the mid 90's 4.3 blazers had the HO motor and they scream in the blazer. and that is alot heavier than the f body. now add a turbo to t and whammo your a sceam'n on 6 cylinders.
And sorry to say I will not put a V8 in my 6 banger RS. I want to kept it a 6 so when I scream past the 8ers I can gloat you just got beat by a 6 banger!!!
Now my other RS HAS a V8 in it and it will eventually go to a 355 stroked 305 with a 144 power charger...
