4.3 L?!?!?!?!

Hello All...i'm new to the club actually searching for an f-body to own as we speak...I ran by an interesting car the other day it was a 1992 Firebird...it looked in good condition and all but what struck me odd was the claim of a 4.3 l engine in a 92?!?!? The sticker also said 43000 original miles....I was under the impression the firebirds came in 2 sizes...2.8 and 3.1, is this incorrect?
Any input would be appreciated Thank you
Chris

It may have it but I doubt it. They did not come stock with them. 92 would have a 3.1/3.5/350...

Engine: LH0 3.1L
haha, nope no 4.3L in a 3rdgen. not stock anyways. somebody could have done a transplant. well, have you seen the motor??? do you know the difference between port fuel injection and throttle body injection??? cause i'm 99% sure a 4.3L would have TBI. who has a pic of their 2.8/3.1L ???? Ovrclck?????

oh, and stock, a 92 will have 1 of 4 engines. 3.1L V6 MPFI, 5.0L TBI, 5.0L TPI, and 5.7L TPI.

The 4.3 is a truck engine. The only applications it was available in were trucks and vans. The engine choices for the F-body were 3.1/5.0 (305)/ or 5.7 (350). If it's a 6 banger it's a 3.1.

IF it's a 4.3 it's not only unique it a car to stay far from. With only 43K on the odometer and already having undergone an engine swap I'd be willing to be that the previous owner was hard on the car and what is still original is on it's way out to lunch.

4.3 90* v-6 came in the trucks as a cpi and a tbi. they also came in monte carlos and some other car I can't remember and If it is a 4.3 the tranny would need to be swaped for the V-8 bolt pattren. The 4.3 and the 5.7 had the same boar and stroke the only difference is that the 4.3 was missing 2 cylinders.

Ovrclk,
What is that other picture from?
I know it's a 4th gen Firebird.
Is this the Ram Air hood version from the factory?
Where are the air filters for that air inlet?
That is the idea I am trying to create with the Camaro Air Cleaner on my Firebird engine.

The first pic is from a 2000 WS6 TA. Ram Air of course. You can actually see the filter through his clear lid if ya look a lil bit more Ked. Anyways, I'm toasty, so I'm out.

That mesh thing I did see, was the filter, then. Many old Corvette HiPo air cleaner systems and hoods, had the air filters in the hood. Like the ZL-2 hood used on the L-88 engines. Same with old Camaros, having a ZL-1 engine. These are setups I'm more familair with.
I'm not into visiting dealerships, anymore, to see new set ups. All they do, out here, is make you buy a car. And I'm to busy to get a chance to stop and look.
Not many people, on the LA streets, let you see under their hoods.
The people out here, think that you want to steal their car.
When I finally got a chance to see under the hood of a 1989 Trans Am, the guy couldn't speak english. I had to use "sign language" let get him to open his hood. Plus I pulled up in my 1974 Corvette. He knew I wasn't after his car!
So, when I finally get a chance to see something (like what you offered, Ovrclck), it's an education. Was that clear air cleaner unit factory or aftermarket? That idea is what I'm trying to make with my stuff I have and can get from a wrecking yard.
I'm anxious to meet Graeme at an evening cruise night, so I can see how he created his ram air set up on his Firebird.

This forum provides an education for lots of people.
Not everyone knows everything nor has done every trick.
