engine doesnt want to start right away?

iv had this problem for awhile and it bothers me, when i first get in my car i get in, turn the ignition on so the pump can prime and pump alittle then i turn the key, but my problem is that sometimes the engine just sits and cranks for a few seconds and it bothers me. is there any reason it would do this? might add that sometimes it doesnt do it, sometimes it does so its a hit and miss for me. help!!

Check the fuel pressure. I don't just mean stick the gauge on it and look at the pressure when the pump is done priming, I mean let the gauge sit on there for half an hour and then come back to it. If the system loses more than 2 PSI in half an hour, you have a problem. Either the fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator (I hope those screws aren't too messed up for you), or the check valve in the fuel pump (or the lines between the pump and the engine) are leaking.
