Hypertech Power Chip with 180 thermo???

I know that the hypertech chip is supposed to work in conjunction with a 160 thermo... but would a 180 work with it? The 160 seems like its wasting gas and looses a little power and i wanna switch over. What would happen if i put a 180 with the chip in? Thanks!

My Jet CAME with a 180, so I believe a 180 would work with a Hypertech. If I remember correctly, Glen told me that all the commercial chips except for FastChip mainly just turn down the fan turn-on temperature and advance the timing a lil at WOT.

I would go with a 180. I picked up 5MPG.

180 will work fine and for most people it workls the best.. I would though recommend fastchip.com if you can return you Hypertech Chip.

Isn't a 180 the stock thermostat?
I just recently bought a JET chip,
was going to get the 160 stat.
They say it gives "consistent engine cooling and increased horsepower by reducing engine temperature and a precise metering of water throughout the engine" is that just a bunch of crap?

Stock temp is 195. lots of people say 160 is too cold and the motor wont run in closed loop operation, which wastes alot of gas. Well, i've run into the problem and am gonna switch over to 180 and see whats up. About that smooth coolant flow crap, the chip doesnt control when the coolant flows through the motor, the thermo does. Payce.
