I bought my TTA new back in 1990 and traded in a 1987 Firebird GTA. The 87 with a 350 went 14.48 best at 98 mph. The first time out with the TTA, it went 13.55 at 103. And has since gone 12.32 @116.

Once I get it running again, it should run in the mid to low 11's at 120.

I seriously doubt that there was any stock V8 in the 3rd gens that could beat up that TTA. I beleive it is the fastest 3rdgen made.

It is...and faster than all but the Ram Air 4th gens....

The only car I fear in my area is a TTA with pillar gagues and a lumnpy idle...even the mighty LT1 would get eaten I'm afraid...

A well built turbo motor will always beat out a 8. PERIOD. I have seen turbo GN and TTA's run into the 9's with little other than upgraded fuel exhaust and intercooler.

All but the '01 Firehawks buddy, and even then its cheaper to mod the **** out of a TTA and go faster than an new LS1 anyways. All I need is an adjustable wastegate and a chip and I am in the 12's

umm...I have seen upgraded TTA/Buick GN's go to the mid 10's and into the 11's wth a bigger intercooler and a upgraded turbo. With a few more mods, exhaust intake fuel and some inside motor work your into the 9's. And not 9.99 try 9.4-9.7 at well over 130 MPH...Get a upgraded turbo with an adjustable boost control and you will pick up 2/3 of a sec alone. Again you will be going up 5 PSI easily.

Kyle, you should get the TA49. I heard it is a real good turbo. Runs about $600 something I think. Get it man and put your TA in the low 13's

HA Camaro_hunter_d I got ya beat! The fastest GN I have ever seen was a 6 second 1/4 mile I totally didn't believe it! I lost $50 on a bet saying it wouldn't hit the 6's. I do not think it was a daily driver tho. Atleast I HOPE NOT!

Hey Pete... I noticed you were from Va, and then I noticed you said once you get your TTA running again it'll hit 11's.... well, I was thinking that you should probably meet me at a track, car show, something and maybe.... I don't know.... possibly.... GIVE ME A RIDE! I've always wanted to find a TTA around here somewhere, but there aren't any. So far, you're the only one in Va. I know of. And, since we're such pals and all you could show me what the mighty Turbo Chicken can do...

Monkie,
If it was in the 6's it couldn't be a daily driver, The way the engine would have to be built it would have no vacume so that it could handle high boost levels, basically people tha built those build them only to race and it need boost to fuction porperly.

As far as low 13's heheheh its way to easy, a MAF pipe will put me there(speeds up the spool up) 12's are basically, and this is no liw there is a lot of people doing this, eace gas, drag slicks, and a K&N away. That TA 49 turbo can put a car into the 11's very easily

My plan is to get a Thrasher chip for the strip only with stadging put in. BAsically this chip is designed for 104 octane, which I can get at the track or a gas station in my town, and allows you to run up to 22psi boost. DOT slicks, K&N, MAF pipe, Exhaust Dump, adjustable wastegate, and a little tuning. That will net me low 12's pretty easily because I will be able to leave the line under 8 psi of boost. Then if I put lower control arms and a pan hard rod with an air bad in the rear I should be able, if I can drive well enough and I am sure it will take practice, post 60' times in the 1.6-1.5 range.
These cars are unbelievable easy to get into the 11's and soon I will get there, but you have to crawl before you can run. KNow what I mean,
you should check out the times on Turbo buick.com you will see it doesn't take a whole lot.
The only problem is that most of them have street mode and track mode. The adjustable wastegate allows you to limit your boost to any level. Like say you let your girlfriend borrow your car, you can set it to only 5psi or something real low.
