Just took her for a ride.....

i just washed the 'maro and took her for a ride to dry her off

man, this car has ALOT of potential!!!!!!!!!!

i'm gonna go bug my mom to lemme do the 3.4 swap

first i have 2 get the cam and rockers though

i can put on the TB by myself so that can wait another month........

its nice to dream, aint it???
in reality, i'll probably be able to do the engine swap closer to September cuz i still have to pay off my tranny rebuild

that's gonna be one helluva 18th birthday present to myself!!!!!

but anyways, my goal is to make as much as i could out of a 60 degree chevy V6

i mean look, some supercars use 6 cylinders, like the Acura NSX (which is to me garbage cuz it is rice) but see what i'm saying

now I know that our 6's cant reach that much power, but i bet if we try we can get a good 220 HP outta them with no Nitrous or Turbos

cuz the 3.4 starts at 160 which is a nice jump from 140

maybe a cam and rockers 20 HP
porting 10 HP
little stuff added together (injectors, TB, RAM AIR, etc.) 10 HP

i know you shouldn't add HP but these are just my new guesstimations

Yeah, but you can't really compare an Acura NSX's V6 to ours... that engine was designed from the beginning to be a "performer", ours wasn't. Of course, that makes our v6-performance-battle all the more fun!

let me provide you with some factory specs.
This cam used in the 2.8 & 3.1 engines

.394 lift (In)
.410 lift (Ex)
Intake duration is 276*
lash point is 196* at .050"
Exhaust duration is
293* at the lash point & 203* at .050 from base circle.
The above is the stock cam you already have.

This is the 3.4 factory stock cam
Duration at .050 is 204* & 216*
Lift is .427"/.454"
Lobe separation is 107*

These cams were designed by Crane Cams, SO STATED IN THE 1998 GM Perf Parts Catalog page 141 (60* V-6 section).
Oh, 6500 RPM is attainable with the proper valve springs.

SO IF YA WANNA SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Go get the better springs to fit the 3.4 heads
Go get 1.52 Roller tip rockers (Comp Cam or Crane Cams version)
Beef up ignition (rebuild distributor)
Beef up exhaust (go to a 2 1/2" set of pipes or larger).
THAT WAY, YOU'LL HAVE THE GREAT RUNNING FOUNDATION, when you slip in the 3.4 block!!!
All the above can swap over to the 3.4 block, when you are ready AND you will have a stronger running car before swap jobs!
OR, YOU WIN!! Money wisely spent & a stronger better running car now, to only get better, too!
BUT, start shopping for the 3.4 engine NOW.
Make sure you run 3.42 gears, too!
Have fun, wish I had the extra money for the roller tip rockers, only!
I need to rebuild a tranny for this motor, now.

TomP, that was exactly my point!!!!!!!

We can basically design our own 6's!!!!!!

The Acura was designed as a performer,
well, we can be our own designers

we've already been given a great base to start off of

dude, this 3.4 i'm gonna get is gonna flat-out kick booty...........

my goal is to take out stock Mustang GT's......what do they have 225 HP?????

that's gonna be so embarrassing........getting beat by a V6 camaro

Stock,
The 3.4s are about 9 to 1 compression
You want nitrous
That what I want to add.
4.11's?
I BELIEVE it'll put the engine in a hihger operating RPM range, that may make it slower in the trap speed.
3.73 are about the top for this engine, it seems.
OR SO I'VE READ!

Well, I guess I've gotta throw some input into this one (even though my car STILL doesn't start...)...

I've got a couple friends who are in to the whole rice scene. What's that? Not good? Actually, it is. You see, this all means that when they upgrade their turbos, guess who gets dibs at them REALLY cheap (or sometimes free)? Yup... me. Now... since I've got a extra set of exhast manifolds laying around with the O2 sensor hole (I swapped on the 2.8 manifolds when I did my swap), and a few connections in the customizing business, I may be driving around in a turbo 3.4 Camaro someday...

Drop the compression to 8:1, throw an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on, high flow fuel pump, add a 50 shot of nitrous, and don't forget the 12 lbs. of boost coming from the turbo... heh... riiiiiiiiiight... like it's gonna happen on $7.00 an hour at Giant Food....

Damn straight Giant is still in business! We're the number one grocery store on the east coast! Although, we just got bought out by the Dutch... don't know whether it's a good thing yet....

Anyway, I don't know what happened! It's not getting fuel as far as I can tell. I've replaced the filter, and while it was unhooked, I had my bro. turn the key to 'on' and the fuel pump works. Then I blew the line clear with compressed air.... so, I'm guessing that it's somewhere in the lines on the motor. I guess it's time to take the plenum back off and clean the fuel rail...

Although, I did find a '83 Z28 with only 40K original miles on it for $5,000. Looks mighty tempting....

And I know.... T-Top weather is already here and I'm not enjoying it... I'm getting more and more depressed. Maybe it's time to give up, admit my defeat, and take it to a mechanic....?

Unhook the line to the fuel regualtor.See what happens. Can you get to it?
You may have to end up taking off the top end pieces to find the problem.
How well did you clean out the fuel rail?
