GASOLINE WARNING

Today i went to change my fuel filter me bein the smart one i am didnt relive the pressure form it so i disconnect the fuel filter fuel is comming all over and i didnt have much room to work cuz my jack stands dont lift the car that high i had just enough room to get my head under and move 1 hand. Well i take it off Gas goes everywere i go to put the new one on. Where we live we cant have the grague open so im in there with gas fumes and gas going all over me. well after 10 mins of it leaking on me and a pool of gas all over my scap starts to burn like a bytch. So i run and take a shower go back out more fule has leaked out so its all over the place now well i go to tighten the 2 nuts and yipie more gas on me and this time the grage is full of gas fumes well i begin to fell really werid my body was tingly i couldnt move the wrench nothin and i felt like i was about to black out every thing got all fuzzy. so i go in the house for some air and a second shower well i go back out after that shower and i can think and see again even more gas well i got the SOB on after 2 hours for a job that shoulda taken me 10 mins like it has in the past. But be careful with that its scarey stuff.

How exactly do u relive the pressure from the fuel line the easy way so i dont have to go though gas all over me and this crap again? oh and to top things off i cleand myy cap and rotor and i pu the fireing order backwars i was thinkg the pass side was even and driver side was odd took me 5 mins to figure that crap out

Glad you got into the house for some fresh air. Can't work with the garage open? That's unamerican! Anyways, I don't know the V6 fuel injection, but if it is like the TPI, there will be a shrader valve on one of the fuel rails that you can use to release the pressure. Mine is sitting above the #6 & #8 intake ports, so the gas just drains all over the top of the engine, but i guess that is better than all over me. I tried to use a few feet of rubber hose stuck on one of those tire air filler things (you know, the thing you fill your tires with...dunno the name), but the fuel rail used a larger valve than tires do. So, i was stuck with just letting it drain down the engine. Hope something here helps.

Easy way to relieve the pressure is in the fuse panel, there is a fuse for the fuel pump. Pull that fuse. Crank the engine. It may start, but will die. Crank it 2 or 3 times to be sure. Don't forget to put that fuse back when your done!

FastRS, I had the same thing happen to me with my fuel filter... with the original AC/Delco pump, the fuel flow would eventually stop after 5 mins or so; I never pulled any fuses or anything. Seems my new Borg-Warner fuel pump refuses to stop... it keep spouring and pouring, so I have to work fast as heck to get the new filter up (which is never a fast deal with those damn hard lines not meeting up correctly)! I've taken to using a latex glove on my right hand; seems to help the burn a bit, but still, my arm takes a beating. One of these days I'll wrap a garbage bag around my arm...
