thermostat???

thermostat???

Hey some1 at auto zone told me to lower my thermostat to 160 degrees or something , does any1 know what he is talking about????

It wont do anythign since your car is computer controled if you got a chip ya then you could do it but im sure you dont have a chip so dont worry plus you wont notice anythign different any ways

so what your sayin is if i don't want to spend like $600's then i'm pretty much screwed about makin my car go faster?

nah, i wouldn't say screwed!! you just have to be creative and smart about it. theres alot you can do for under 600.00...you'll learn

exhaust = 300
MSD wires and coil = 150
underdrive pulleys = 90
chip = 150-200
stat = cheap
home-made intake = 50
TB bypass = free
gears = about 400 w/o labor

plus cam, rockers...thers alot
just look at everyones sigs to get ideas

Woah, wait... the 160 degree thermostat will help! A cooler engine can make more power, since you can get more air & fuel (colder=more dense) into the cylinders. I run a 160 degree 'stat in the summer, and a 195 in the winter- I need hot air out of my heater... I hate the cold.

180 is a compromise, but rig up a fan switch to really run it cooler...
