Turbo TA ?'s
The onlything I know is that it looks like a 200R4 bolts right to it with no adapter. Knowing that this tranny was also in the Monty SS that came with the HO 4BBL 305 same as the F-body that had the 700R4, I would imagine they are the same.
Now that is logical reasoning and me without the car. I might look at it later and see there is some adapter plate or something else funny and be wrong. If I am someone please correct me.

86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

I know you'd have a boost problem, but if you're a fast shifter (you claim to be Grames) then it shouldn't matter TOO much in the 1/4, should it? I just thought about it because it's different and because it should bring some killer gas mileage.
Turbos run real strong by the boost staying up along with the RPMS.
UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE INDY RACE LEAGUE/FORMULA 1/CART Series, SHIFTING AT 12,000 RPMS, then there is no lag.
AND those shifts are electronic activated.
It takes longer to read "electronic" than those IRL shifts to occur!
With those short shifts, the drop in RPM is so little!
That's why the automatics are the wise choice.
Check out the IRL race happening at Texas Motor Speedway on TV soon, to understand better what's going on with those engines/turbos/trannys and how they work well together.

An automatic losses boost when it shifts to. Yes a T-56 would be a good choicew, but when the TTA was made they were not available. The story goes that a T-5 one was built, but it had decresed performance do to the gear ratios. Thats why the 200R4 is with all the Turbo 6's. It doesnt have that big drop in gear ration from the 1 to 2 shift like the 700R4 which would net a HUGE loss in Boost. Its the RPMs and the LOAD against the engine. just like you cant build boost in Neutral, you have ot power brake it to launch with boost. Driving a Turbo Stick shift car is a little different and you have a lot of things to consider, but Sticks can be faster than the Automatic cars, just like the N/A cars.
SO anyways, a T-56 would work great with a TTA, but I wouldn't want to do that to a TTA, maybe a GN.

No blow off valve. Kyle you have a good point with the trans but I believe the only reason the 200 4 R came in the TTA is because the 700 R 4 cannot be used with anything outside of a Chevy motor installed at the factory. 'GM policy'

Nope no blow off valve just a Sneezer as I call it. Lets some pressure excape when throttle is closed, but not a "Blow off Valve"
I am sure ther was an Olds 350 hooked up to a 700R4 in my families Old 86 Olds Station Wagon. It was an overdrive and had a deep first gear. Oh well I might be wrong to.
