Oil leak again

Well we replaced the gaskets in the distributor and reinstalled the old engine months ago. About 2 weeks later the thing starts a slow leak. I am down a quart to 1.5 every 2 weeks of highway driving. Its coming from the typical rear spot and leaving serveral marks on the ground. Ok no big deal, its the o ring again. So after sucking up face and sending the car in to be done (I HATE pulling distributors) they get it off and call me. They seem to think it is coming from the rear intake base. I pulled my extra one out and see a 4 inch flat spot not unlike a chevy V8 intake has. So i told them to replace the O ring (just incase). Now my question is this. I did not pull the intake myself - fuel injection and me seem to have a bit of a disagreement when it comes to taking apart and putting together, i get the way to do it but never have done it on my own. If its the rear intake seal (base intake to block) that seems easy to do, altho they want 469.00 to do it. Taking the top off is easy, the middle i have to remove the fuel rail to get to the base. Anyone done this? is it hard? i see i will have to disconnect the wiring for the injectors and mark em, and pull the fuel rail. Is it hard to pull and what about putting back in? Better yet, anyone in the local DFW area that needs a free lunch, some company and has a sense of humor that has done it? I will do the work but I am really not sure i want to do this alone.

Thanks

Heheehe i am hoping to god that they were wrong and it just looks like its leaking from the rear intake area, seems to me its close to the dist hole and could look that way. Who knows.... We will see in a hour or so...

No, it's not tha hard to pull the fuel rail...i had to do this when i did my swap, the if you end up doing it your self, i would recomend you switching out the "O" rings on the injectors, just so you know you will have a good tight fit...those injectors gave me some problems about snaping back in to place...but thats a pretty easy fix...it will just take some time...

I recommend you pull out the DistB, clean area real well, slip on the small block chevy distb gasket (it's fel pro & only a $1) & drive away.
TO MAKE IT EASY, do make the distB hold down I suggest for extra strength.
$500 for pulling the intake & letting them do it?
I guess......
Oh, the wires, do fall back into place, when ya remove them.
Use tape to mark them, but the injectors ones, just fall into place.
Give the SBC gasket a try, it can only save ya money. Like $499.00!

Yeah i had them do the O ring on the distributor anyway... We will see if it leaks more. Looking at my extra intake i can not see how it would literally leak under pressure from the rear intake/block mating surface. I didn't think under the intake is really pressurized. I know the distributor hole is under pressure. I can see however how it would look like it is leaking from the seal. What i want to know is how did they determine it was leaking from the intake/block. The guy said we pulled your distributor and its leaking from blah blah blah... How? how did ya get it to pressurize without running it? i do not think a drill can pressurize it up like the pump can. If they checked when it was running then it mayhave looked like it was coming from the seal rather then the hole which is right next to the seal. They charged 130.00 to do the work on the o ring... thats fine as i HATE pulling them and do not have the timing gear if i hose it up. Besides, me and the car have a little understanding - i spend money on her - she treats me good. So chalk one up to 130.00 spent. I am gonna hit the parts store when they come get me and get some tuneup stuff, she should be happy and it will prove pretty quick if i got a oil leak still.
