Problems with wet K&N filters?
Would it matter at all if you got your filter a little wet? Because I just got a conical filter and the only way it will fit is if I take out the air can. Then there is nothing protecting the filter. So if it rains, will the rain get on it at all? And if it will, will it hurt anything? Please help, I want to get this in as soon as possible! Also, do you guys think I should build some kind of housing around it? Because I have heard that having the filter out in the open makes it suck up more hot air which doesn't help performance. Please let me know, and I'm sorry about all the questions.

well from my knowledge it wouldn't hurt the K&N if it got a bit wet because its not made from paper and is oiled so the water should just beads off if im not mistaken, i heard that you suckin hot air BUT that is if you place it near the engine, if your able to place it all the way in the front of the car bye the grill, im pretty sure you will be getting cool air but thats just my opinion, as for the housing thing im not sure, hope i was of some help

I can tell you first hand not to worrie about it. I have a K&N XStream Filter Lid, and an open Power Buldge Hood Scoop, When it rains the filter get alittle wet but it fine, works great. If anythin the water will help filter some of the dirt away fom the filter.
