What in the world is this connector/wire?

I found the wire/connector while working under my 88 RS. It was sorta dangling near the exhaust manifold (right, passenger side) and as you can see in the photo, the plastic harness had been sorta melted. The wire is dark green with a white stripe.

For the life of me, I can't find the corresponding sensor/connection.

Any ideas?

Can't really say from that picture, need to see the connector itself, ideally from a side profile at an angle such that you can see the side profile and the face of it.

Didn't think the 89s had the secondary coolant fan switch, but that would be the connector for it... It's next to the lifting eye in that corner, pointed straight out from the corner of the head (towards the heater core hoses).

Mine's an 88 (I dunno if that was a typo) but it doesn't matter much. I'm manually switching the fan. I appreciate the ID. Now I can go looking for other reasons the fuel pump isn't pumping.

Edit: The reason for the fuel pump problem was a blown fuse, hidden on the inner fender (why couldn't they have put it in the fuse panel?)
