Summer Trip '01 Gas mileage....
For those of you wondering what a decently tuned and running 2.8 should get for mileage, here's my runs from my 1,000 mile road trip (the last 340 mile stretch has yet to be refilled).
Stop #1: All 65-80 MPH highway cruising, South Deerfield Ma, to Freeport, Me...202 miles / 7.89 gallons = 25.69 MPG
Stop #2: 1/3 highway driving, 2/3 backroads at 50-55 with little stop and go, but lots of hillclimbing at 3,000 RPM...302 miles / 13.14 gallons = 22.98 MPG
Stop #3: Mostly backroads with 3 15-20 minute traffic jams, fully stopped...107 miles / 4.87 gallons = 21.97 MPG
This was using 93 Mobil with a Hypertech Stage I chip, with a full tune up done 8,000 miles ago. Sound like good numbers??
The sad thing is the Z28 gets better mileage, and does it with twice the displacement and with over twice the power...sad, isn't it?

My 2.8 is only 10 MPG under you. It's still good it's still good!

I took a summer trip a month ago, Put 44 litres in my tank, and drove 560km on it...I'd say 2/3 highway(110-130km/h), 1/3 stop and go in the city doing about 50km/h
Thats 29.6mpg, so I was pretty happy.
