Need Help & Suggestions Please....

'88 V6 2.8L
Rebuilt Engine
New Distributor, Plugs, Wires, Coil, MAF Sensor, Cap & Rotor, Super Chip, New Computer, TPS adjusted Perfectly, New Fuel Regulator

Runs Rich, Loss of RPM when floored, See Sparks Between Wires at night, Popping Through Intake in Neutral, Runs and idles great until I want to push on the gas more than half way.

Could it be a problem with wiring harness...
How much do they run, where can I get one, how hard is it to put in, should I get someone to do it for me?????

Help me please....

get new wires, they're shorting themselves out, not all energy getting to plugs & that's why you are running rich

you need some plug insulaters, check jegs, summit, paw, northern auto, they shouldn't be too expensive.

plug insulators

i've got the sheeths on the ends of my wires, to keep the intake from bunring them up. Is that the kind of thing your talkin' about?

Could I have a grounding problem too.

Is that why the sparks are flyin'?

the heat is eating up your wires, put the sheaths by the block, at the end of the wires, it's a lot hotter there than at the manifold.

Most of the answers have been related to ignition wires and spark plugs.

Yes, it sounds like you need both of them, but another area you may want to look into is the CTS-Coolant Temp Sensor. If it is reading incorrectly the ECM will make it run too rich or too lean to compensate for an overly hot or cold condition.

Then again, you could always swap in a V8

I replaced one of the temp sensors becuase I got a code for it. Just after I replaced it the problem started happening.

There are two sensors on the top of my intake manifold. A big one and a small one. I replaced the small one. Should I replace the big one?

The big one is the IAC... no need to replace it unless your having idleing troubles... even then it most likely just needs to be cleaned.

if you can fix the problem with your wires then i think you will be all set. if not, worst case scenario you will have better spark plug wire and have eliminated one more problem, but i can almost bet thats it. i'm running MSD superconducter wires and haven't had a problem and love em, and i know alot of the other guys run accels....but just .02 and let us know how things work out. but if you aren't getting enough spark to the cylinders you will lose power and have left over gas in the cylinder leading to a rich condition. (correct me if i am wrong)

what simptoms do you look for a bad coolant temp sensor other than bad gas milage?

Just hook it up to a scanner and read the CTS Temp. value. It should be consistent with the gauge on the dash. If it reads considerably higher or lower, then its in need of replacement.
