Curious, would this work?
Using a 4-spd tranny from an early model 4 cyl. S-10 in place of the 5-spd, to obtain quicker 1/4 mile times. I'm thinking MPFI 2.8 with 4-spd might be able to keep the RPM's up higher after shifting. I know it's an odd thought, but it sounds good.

it will work, my friend's uncle has a 2.8 s-10 with a I-4 4spd tranny. it may give you quick acceleration but it maybe limit your top speed.
