cleaning K&N's with ram air

I've had my K&N's with ram air for about 5-6 months now .I was thinking the other day , that K&N recomends cleaning these filters every 50-100 k miles .Should these filters be cleaned even more often if we have our airboxes slashed with ram air . Yeah I know this maybe a stupid question because you maybe just thinking , well take them out and see if there dirty .I just wanna know for sure . Thanx , Wayne

Hey Wayne, on some of my rides, I rotate the filters once a week.
I have forced air into one area, specifically.
After I make a full pass, I clean.
I use Simple Green (straight, not mixed to clean) and use cold water from the inside out. Then I use the K & N Oiling stuff for usage
NOW that I get some more air into my Firebird (I modified the stock air box lid and it worked, FINALLY), I MAY actually have to clean it. I never had to do that since I got the K & N (Firebird) filter over a year plus ago.

On my 1985 Firebird lid, all I did was use a heat gun to flatten the lid, not leave at that 45* angle. It worked. I have dirt on my filter.
