I was driving today and i noticed my oil pressure was low around 20 psi then i hit a stop light and it goes into the red and the needle would drop down pop outta the red back into the red and so on... Is my oil pump bad or is the sending unit or the guage it self going bad what should i do.

 

check the connection at the pressure sender at the oil filter. Replace the sender too.. if not check the gauge... could be the oil pump is going out.

I have a feeling it isnt the oil pump because when i put the key to the on position normaly the needle would be at zero now it goes past 80 psi and maxes out so i dono whats up with it.. how much is a oil pressure sending unit? and how hard is it to do

 

oil pressure sending unit is like 8 bucks, all you do is unclip the electrical connector and unscrew it, then put some hi-temp silicone on the threads of the new one and screw it in.
