Carbon is a killer

Well I made it after spending a mere $800 dollars I finally got my wifes 94 Grand-Am to pass emissions. With my wifes car I hardly ever work on it, I usually take it somewhere and have them diagnose it then if it's a simple job I go ahead and knock it out. Well the dealer I was going to should be ashamed of itself. First they said it was the EGR($250) That didn't fix it so they said the Cat was bad($180). After that didn't fix it I said screw that dealer and took it to another. In 20 min the techs there diagnosed the problem. The tube from the intake to the egr was clogged with freaking carbon!. Those **** heads at the other dealership never even looked. I learned a hard lesson, make sure the intake is kept clean. Sorry for ranting guys Just thought i'd share my little adventure.

show the dealership the pass from the e-check, the bill from the other shop showing what ws done, to the repair manager & ask why it wan't diagnosed fully the first time. They will proboly say the new egr/cat helped it pass, but still. you might not get satifaction, but go ahead a submit a complaint against them if they play stupid.
