i can hear my cold air being sucked in also for the first few minutes my car is started so it could def be it. i also have and air leak on my drivers side where that rubber triangle thing is next to the mirror. it keeps sliding up and whoever had the car before didn't notice so the weatherstripping is a bit distorted...

Yes it is the dual snorkle. It's kinda neat to hear the car sucking all that air in!!

Hey be careful, it could be your alternator. Mine used to do that before it went out. Get it checked at auto zone or checker. Hope this helps.....

87,

Does it sound like you have a Turbo and a S/C, cause it maybe a fan belt. that what happened to my car last week, i heard a simlar nose and i saw it was my fan belt on it's way out.

The sound could also be a bearing going in your water pump, steering pump, smog pump. Anyone of those.

Are you sure that the whistling sound is really from the engine? Sometimes when a cat is starting to clog or is clogged it will make a whistling sound. I've had two of them do that.
