Most of you guys were saying that your car would idle at about 600rpms at an average and mine when I start it shoots up to 20,000rpms and drops down to about 1,200rpms at the least. What does this say? Is there something wrong?

20,000 RPMS?!!!!! u got some kinda F1 motor under the hood?... hehe... im sure u meant 2,000

maybe the idle needs an adjustment... and check the vac hose by the master cylinder... i had a small leak there once and it caused the idle to run screwy.... kind of an off chance... but jus maybe... other than that i havent a clue

And if the car isn't warm you have to be a good driver with a manual or it will jump, drop, try to stall. Pretty much if it is cold to get it moving smoothly you have to feather the clutch until you get moving and then going into second you have to do the same. Anyways about the high idle....anyone know if I should be worried??????

When I start mine in the morning it idles around 1500 until it warms up then drops to about 800.

I would start looking for vacuum leaks. They are a prime cause for high idle problems.

The specs for my car at least call for 600 RPM in an automatic and 800 RPM in a standard... I usually get about 900 RPM, I should adjust the carb.

Edit: If you idle high, it may be a lot of things... idle screws and vacuum leaks are the major culprits. Vacuum leaks will usually apear erratic though.
