How can I find out if I am running rich???

I know I can go and buy a gauge for it, but is there anyother way? I think I might be. I have a wierd exhaust smell and this tank full I am only getting a little over 200 miles. Normal for me is about 310-325. Any help would be awesome. If I need to buy a gauge I will, but I was hoping that there would be another way. Thanks dudes!!!

Check to see if you get a code. I think there might be a code for a rich mixture.

I got a guage.. does not tell you like you think it would. It goes back and forth continuously. Never settles. Have called chevy and they say that its normal for it to do that. A code SHOULD pop but... have you replaced your O2 sensor lately?. Does the smell like rotten eggs? If so its your catalatic converter going bad. and that can most certainly effect your milage.

It doesnt smell like rotten eggs, but it does have a wierd smell. Someone did mention to me about the O2 sensor. PLus, someone also mentioned about changing the timing chain. I have had the car for about 30,000 miles and I kmow I havent done it, not sure if it was ever done. I am also getting a wierd hesitation and rough idle thing. If I try to go WOT it will hesitate but if I take off slowly then give it good amount of gas it is fine. The other day while I was sitting at the light it started to idle rough at about 500 so I threw it into neutral and it jumped to 3000 for about 1.5sec then dropped back to normal. It was wierd. It was the second time it has ever happened since the car has been running wierd. Anyway, thanks for your guys info if you have any other ideas please let me know! THANKS

Check your timing. Look for Vacuum leaks... Sounds like timing though. If your oxy sensor has not been changed since you can remember change it. It can only help. 25 bucks.
