Don't Forget
It is always about power, but many are forgetting suspension. LCA's torque arm, and panhard rod will improve your 1/4 times too... It will also help you corner better. Also there are polyurethane bushings, drop spindles, vented disc brakes and stainless steel brake lines....Do these before you go after a chipp or pulleys or if you can't do a cam and roller rockers... Life is not always a straight line...
How does suspension mods help in your 1/4 time ? I kinda get and ideau how it would , but I wanna see if your thinking the same thing I am , or If im wrong .
.Its hard to explain what im thinkin lol .

Even though we have these 2.8's we still loose traction. Toss some slicks on your car run the 1/4 then go back to street tires. You will see a slight gain.
SO besides wheel hop, slip whatever you want to call it we do loose some traction racing like all cars. Suspension mods reduce that loss and transfer the power to the ground better and faster thus improving your time...

You can even put an air bag in the right rear spring. By inflating it (you'd have to mess with the correct PSI), you'd enable the car to launch straighter than usual. It'd cut down on "squat".
