money to rebuild, or start over?

i have a firebird v-6 with over 180,000 miles on it. I now it might not last linger but there has been so much money i put into it allready! (Not in engine.) now i've been told if i completly rebuild it i could have it like new, or should i save up and just buy a 350 or something? any advantages and dis'es? at this point let's say money isn't an option, i just want a broad outlook on a plan.

well that'll depend on what you want from the car. if you go for a v8 you'll also need the v8 tranny, radiator, computer (if FI appeals to you) springs, and some other stuff i'm not thinknig of right now. And i'd highly recommend posi for a 350, just a guess. If you do a rebuild on the ole' 2.8L just have fun, and there's a good chance it'll be like new, as long as your workmanship is good. You could also purchase a 3.4L and drop in, it'll be a near direct replacement and will provide you with some extra ponies, and little TQ also. Also if you do a rebuild, don't just rebuild go better than stock. Think of all the fun things you could do while that motor was out of the car, port the heads, port the intake, put the headers on, instal the HI-Po cam, forge the bottom end, and prepare the motor for a 150hp shot of NOS. That wouldn't be a bad setup there, and would probably turn 14's in the 1/4 give some v8's a run for there money. But that's all i cna say. good luck.
