i need your help on how to remove the distribitor

i have an 86 camaro with the 2.8 and i need to change the ignition pickup/stator in it. im trying to figure out how to remove the distributor. i got the cap and rotor off but i dont see how the distributor comes off so that i can get to the pickup. thanks. the haynes book isnt helping out all that much right now.

There is a bracket that kind of looks like a talon, bolts to the block and holds the dizzy down, you have to remove that first, then just twist back and forth while pulling up. FYI, the bolt is a PITA to get to, so if you are taking apart the top end anyways, I suggest removing the UIM and MIM first.

Maybe I missed another thread about removing the intake that you posted, but the bolt that holds down the distributor is on the passenger side of the block. You will need a shallow 13mm (if i remember correctly, maybe 15mm) swivel socket and about a foot long extension to get it loose. Be careful not to let it fall down on to the bell housing of the trans and get snagged where you cant see or reach it, lol.

i got it out and replaced but am still having problems with my car not starting. ill start a new thread for that tho. thanks you
