hit the junkyard, find yourself an AT x-member and use an AT mount

I have a 92 that came with a V6 and a T5 and had that same "donut" mount. I bought an auto crossmember off ebay and a regular mount at Autozone. Total cost of everything was $45 and it all bolted right in place.

Re: 89 2.8 5peed transmision mount

it can be a v6 crossmember if it's off an automatic transmission car

here's a thread I started on the subject...just a couple of weeks ago. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/6...all-v6-t5.html

Re: 89 2.8 5peed transmision mount

I just looked up the parts numbers for 1982 and 1989, and they are different, but the chances are very high that either would work. Just to be safe you might want to try to find one off a later f-body, put out a call from one here, or look on ebay

You are aware that the '82 had a different transmission, are you not?

Re: 89 2.8 5peed transmision mount

are you aware the 82 camaro uses the exact same tranny mount as the 89?

I said it would probably work, but didn't make any promises

Re: 89 2.8 5peed transmision mount

That same transmission mount is used in a multitude of RWD GM vehicles. Are you going to suggest that the kid go get a crossmember out of a '77 Buick? Because it uses the same mount!

Re: 89 2.8 5peed transmision mount

dont be idiotic.

The frame didn't change for the entire run of third gens, so there's no reason why the crossmember wouldn't work

I said to be safe he should use a later crossmember, but if he has one handy and cheap, give it a try. He has to buy the mount either way.

The frame didn't change, but the crossmember mounting points in it did.
